Education Sector
Through a partnership with Black education for new Orleans,
IWES conducted formative research with local Black educators to determine how to make our Education system more trauma-informed. Results from our research can be found here, and the Call-to-Action that came out of the research is to make:
ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN NEW ORLEANS EMPLOY FULL-TIME, LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS THAT RECEIVE REGULAR TRAINING & SUPPORT TO CREATE A TRAUMA-INFORMED SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT.
To illustrate the need for trauma-informed schools we spoke to local educators representing varying roles (from a principal to education-based non-profit leaders to a school founder) to share their experiences, their wisdom, and their compassion.
Read their stories. Understand the issues. Advocate for trauma-informed schools.
If you would like to be in that number and want help activating our Call to Action, contact us here.
